Alright animator, I have my eye on you.You should keyframe or something though. Your stuff is really well rendered and posed, but the motions seem to be too consistent and smooth - like a soft running river instead of dramatic rapids. Needs to be more punchy.

Oh no problem. I love your work. But really, get that rhythm down beforehand, really think about the drama - your motion will be much more natural and 10x more exciting. Even simple stuff like a man standing. That said, silky flat animation IS a style and can be charming, but I get the impression that for you it's less of a decision and more of a habit. I wanna see more.
It's when you combine the two that you get the really sexy results. such as straight ahead from the release up till the landing, and then key frame for the landing and strikes so you can get the really punctuated poses. that being said, really good stuff.
How about 'or something'. And just leave it the way it is. It's fantastic.

It's beautifully fluid. I liked the slight pause mid air in the very beginning.Also, even if there are no key frames in this per se, I do think the basic gist of the characters' poses are quite strong for the style which is going for more subtle movement...as opposed to something with more centering on exaggerated keyframes with all due respect given to the first anon. While the importance of keyframes definitely can't be stressed enough, that definitely does fall more into a stylistic difference (albeit usually brought on by the need for production efficiency) than an over encompassing necessity for good animation which, whether this was the meaning or not...I got the impression was the notion being implied. Plus it's always going to be a little awkward to hear that you can "too much" fluidity and smoothness in an animation to me no matter how much time passes. Anyways, great Pokeymans picture.
this is action animation with 4 key poses, it wouldve been perfect for keyframing. with keyframing w something like this you can define the most extreme poses instead of tryin to guess the timing for the leadup, and hope uve given yourself enough space to get there. keyframing lets you set peaks and valleys as big or as subtle as you want them, it just gives u more control. and theres nothing "subtle" about this animation haha except that it feels a little light because it wasnt keyframed. she was going big and bad. looks great btw dana :) :) badass air pose
thanks michelle! I actually sketched out 5/6 extremely quick rough thumbs on paper but went straight ahead in Flash. The floatiness I blame on my lack of planning or a distinct ground plane haha.
